September 10 ~ Apple Bakers
Apple bakers are bowl shaped with a wide rim. Throwing an apple baker is quite easy once you remember to leave extra clay in the bottom for the 1 1/2 inch cone needed in the middle of the bottom. This cone heats up when the apple baker is in the oven and helps bake the center of the apple. These are fun and easy forms to throw on the potter’s wheel.

November 12 ~ Plates
Thrown plates need compression. For a plate to remain flat and not end up with an “S” crack it is necessary to work the clay inward multiple times. We will be throwing different types of plates and discussing the pros and cons of lips, rims and feet on plates and platters.
December 10 ~ Cake Plates
Cake plates come in several forms. There are cake plates that are a simple disc, rimmed plates and pedestal cake plates with and without domes. This wheel throwing demonstration will walk you through many of the variations of making a tasteful cake plate.
