MCW is a pottery and clay teaching studio, firing center and regional gathering place for potters, sculptors, and clay lovers of all types. Everyone interested in clay work is welcome at MCW. It is conveniently located in Troy, and near to Albany, Schenectady and the surrounding Capital District regions. Come visit us and take a tour.
Handbuilding and wheel throwing class sessions are ongoing. Private classes are also available.
MCW has 12 potters wheels, a Brent slabroller, a NorthStar extruder, 4 electric kilns, a laguna gas kiln (Ellie), and a Bourry Box wood kiln (Bruno).
In addition to the teaching studio there are monthly Second Saturday mini-workshop demonstrations which are open to everyone for a nominal fee.
Membership at MCW is available on a monthly or on-going basis.
Monroe ClayWorks is a division of Northeast Ceramic Supply, Inc. (NEC) which is owned by Barbara Reeley. It is a full-service pottery retail supply store. NEC has a complete line of wheels, kilns, slabrollers, tools, clay, glazes and much more.
NEC has been in business for over 44 years. On February 4, 2014 NEC moved to their new location at 10 Monroe Street, Troy, NY. MCW was created at the new location.
NEC is managed by Don Shore and Monroe ClayWorks is managed by Barbara Reeley.
