Making a set of dishes you can use every day, on special occasions, alone or with eleven others will be the focus of this advanced class. We will primarily use the potter’s wheel but will texture & embellish our dish sets using handbuilding techniques.
Plates, large, medium & small; bowls both pasta and rounded, mugs, tumblers, vegetable bowls, pitchers, platters, casseroles, teapots, teacups, sugar bowls, creamers, gravy boats ~ and the list goes on. Every student will make their own list of their individual dish set, draw out three sketches of their set and before setting out to throw and handbuild.
Join us for our Advanced Dinner & Dish Set Extravaganza.
Sign up early, this class fills up and we’re only taking 9 students!!
Clay Mentoring Class
Instructor: BARBARA REELEY
Wednesday Morning Mentoring
September 12 – October 30
Class limited to 6 Students
No Beginners, this class session is for anyone who has been working in clay in any way and feels they could go further in their ClayWorks with a bit of guidance. Going to the next step in your ClayWorks can be daunting so we’ll provide you with ideas, challenges and projects that will enhance the skills you already possess. This will be a calmly eclectic class – we may each be working on different levels with varying ideas but the teaching goal is to have each student verbalize then create their clay dream.

This class is for anyone that wants to learn to throw on the potter’s wheel and for those that want to improve their throwing skills. You’ll begin with wedging and throwing the basic bowl and cup shape. Our focus will be on centering, pulling up and creating even walls. Everyone will work at their own pace to progress to more advanced forms and handles. We’ll work on lids, different styles of rims, feet and slightly altered forms. You’ll learn how to trim your work and finally, glaze your pieces for their final firing in our electric kilns.
